The game is, in so many ways, just so contrived. Pokémon Black and White somehow have a worse story than previous installments in the franchise despite this being a reboot explicitly intended to make the series more narrative-based. It failed miserably, if it weren't for the core Pokémon gameplay this would be completely uninteresting, and even that is cheapened due to how easy the game is. The last Pokémon game I played was Emerald and I'm often told Gen III is a low point in the series with Gen V serving as a return to form, now I know not to take those people seriously.

I'm not even a big gen 4 fan (boring story, terrible pokepool, slow as shit), but the music was fucking far and beyond better than any other gen.

I personally don't like the starters but everything else you posted is 100% true.

Also, B2W2 have challenge mode which although I wish it was available at the start of the game make it a much more enjoyable experience for people who don't want to rush through the game without arbitrary personal limitations like nuzlockes.
