It's also wrong. Melee is the same static shitfest it's been since release. VGC changes rulesets every year (and 3 times this past year), meaning the meta never really settles.

Smogon is melee in the sense that it's 100% kept alive by the fans, for the fans, with no support from Nintendo/GameFreak.
VGC is melee in the sense that it's the perfect meta that is the most skill based and complex.
There's a valid argument for either to be called the melee of pokemon.
