KANTOOOO is a thing in the west because a ton of kids got into Pokemon when it was the hot new fad in 1999-2001, then forgot it existed afterwards. Japan doesn't have those people because Pokemon is so fucking huge it's everywhere. It's like Star Wars in the west, it's impossible to not be aware it still exists even if you're not following the new stuff.

The only reason I liked Origins was because I just wanted to see a protagonist actually win and become champion instead of Ash jobbing every league. Episode 1 was great, 2 and 3 were pretty shit, and 4 was good.

They may not have nostalgia for Pokémon (which I doubt because Misty and Borck keep making cameos in the anime and now the Mewtwo movie is being remade) but they have a bunch of franchises being brought back to sell nostalgia just like it's happening in the West. Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball, Fruits Basket, Rurouni Kenshin, Card Captor Sakura, Naruto, Saiyuki, Osomatsu-san, Devilman, Mazinger, they all got sequels or remakes/reboots. Hell even fucking ORPHEN got something. And let's not forget LA adaptations like Bleach and FMA. Some toy lines like Nendoroid and Figma are also taking the chance to release figures of old canons that didn't have good merch in the old days, like Rina from Slayers getting a Nendo.

When episode 1 was about to come out, the "real fans" that followed all the extra stuff that came out during the years in between were crying that suddenly normies remembered Star Wars existed again and now "it's cool" but when they liked it at school they were those weird nerds. That's exactly what happened when the prequels came out, I don't know what you're smoking. Star Wars had a "gen III" of their own, so to speak. After the initial success everyone got saturated and moved on and for a while it was just something for nerds. Then the prequels came out, everyone remembered SW was a thing and they continue to write colossal rants about how those three movies raped their childhood to this very day.

going off gen 1 stats and equal IVs/EVs on both Pokemon, a Rhyhorn would have to be level 100 to OHKO a level 25 Jolteon with Thunderbolt. If Jolteon is level 26 it doesn't OHKO.

Nah, compare Let's Go sales in Japan with its international sales for example. It proportionally was even further apart from mainline entries than its international numbers. For whatever reason, Kanto nostalgia doesn't seem to be that strong there. There IS some nostalgia, but it's not a selling factor as strong as it is elsewhere.

My dudes, TPC literally stopped mentioning, promoting or even pretending that Origins ever existed.
They want people to forget about that shit show.

Despite them putting most of the old specials in Pokemon TV and their Youtube channel including Generations but Origins never got a single mention or promotion ever since.

Heck, it didn't get any related merchs either.
It was a big failure that they want everybody to forget about.

It's not like it had original designs of its own or anything. There was no big Origins merch push that failed. Origins itself was basically a big promotion for Mega Charizard X.
