Pokémon never had great plot, but Gen 5 was the best we've gotten aside from the non-main series games.

I played black recently. It's really not a good story. It was the most interesting idea that's come up in pokemon game so far but it was executed really poorly. I don't know if BW2 improved things. For me pokemon is better with absolute minimum story because the harder game freak try with it the more clumsy and terrible the story is.

Because the things in the plot that aren't N's autism are the best the series has seen. Bianca and Cheren are the best non-dickass rivals, the Gym Leaders had the most personality (except Brycen), it had the most active Professor, a good evil team, it was just the best at nearly everything it tried.

I've played since gen 1 and I think Gen 5 did mostly everything right. It has the best characters, best villains, best Gym Leaders. The only thing I'd fix is the difficulty of the gym leaders and their teams, because a lot of them are kind of crap.

Also, I like BWB2BW2's story not because it's some literary achievement revelation, I just thought that Team Plasma's rhetoric, goal, and Ghetsis' manipulative betrayal was cool to see. I also really like N. I think it's a cool idea to have this strange human being manipulated by an organization and ultimately breaking free of it

It's not perfect, it's not some megadeep thing, but it was good and deep enough for me to really enjoy it.
