why doesn't GF just re-release the GBA titles on virtual console? Is nintendo stopping them?
They'd make so much money with almost no work, i just dont understand it

I think they are unwilling to make a full-featured emulator for the 3DS. The one for the ambassador games can't go into sleep mode and has no save states.

VC has been replaced by Nintendo Online. I dunno if they'll include Pokemon games in that, though.

That's because they're not being emulated. The DS and 3DS lines have two processors, one main CPU and one weaker one for processing the touch stuff. The weaker CPU has the same architecture as a GBA. When a DS runs a GBA game it's just using its native hardware. The 3DS, in order to maintain compatibility with the DS, has the same CPU architecture and same ability to natively play GBA games, it just lacks the cartridge slot. It's similar to how the Wii U can natively play GC games, it just can't read GC disks.

If this is true then why the FUCK did they drop the cartridge slot? They could have at least put it on a pro model after they started releasing the cheaper 2DS.
I have both a 3DS and an N3DS but I'd gladly buy a third system if they released a final hardware revision that had a GB slot.

They could have at least packed in an adapter that let you plug GBA carts into it that had the shape of a DS or 3DS cart so you could play GBA games on it.

I wish they would bring it back to switch though, I don’t need Nintendo online, but thats the only way to play mario 3 on it. Plus it would be nice to be able to flat out buy some old nes-n64 games on switch
