Yes you can. Literally all you have to do is register the number of whoever gives out the stone you need, go back to New Bark Town and keep adjusting the clock for daylight saving time until they call to give you a stone, takes like 10 minutes.

I don't think its unfair to at least ask for a basic evo stone somewhere in the first 85% of the game. Hell, the earliest one is the sun stone, which is behind the bug contest. That's A-OK.

I don't like the casualization of pokemon games, but more fucking options is always a good thing. There's a serious problem when so many Pokemon are prevented from being usable. I agree people shouldn't have everything handed to them, but fuck. At least make them reasonably attainable.

it doesnt even take that long to get a call, just let the game idle for some minutes

"After fourth gym" is a reasonable timeframe for evolution stones. In RBY you got them in Celadon.

just download a ROM and ROM editor. Put misdreavus and houndour in the burned tower, larvitar in mt mortar/blackthorn enterance dark cave, put murkrow in headbutt trees mid-late game, and continue for anything else like mareep or girafarig, etc.

tully is the "hardest" one for some reason (mostly because i always forget to get this num) but all the others are just fine

Nope. Last playthough I used Belossom and Nidoking, both stone evolutions. You can get these stones as soon as you get into Goldenrod and get Surf.

There's dozen Pokémon that are Kanto-only, I agree this is bad but overall is not an issue.

This game is not like the others zoomers are used to play. When you get into Ecruteak, after the 3rd badge, you will have access to Surf, Strenght, Flash and Rock Smash, giving you access almost of Johto with the exception of the Ice Cave and Blackthorn. You will have access to a plethora of places with different Pokémon and you can make the team you want with so many options as any other game, or even more. You get rewarded with rare Pokémon early like Eevee, Lapras, Wobuffet, Smeargle and Natu if you backtrack. Heck, the game even gives you the option to catch Raikou and Entei early if you're crazy enough. Not to mention you can breed your starters with Ditto (also found very early) and trade with the other starters if you have friends.

Kanto is post-game. There's a clear ending when you beat the E4. You became the champion, END. However, Kanto is a post-game so good that people think it's supposed to be a second region. No other game up to today made a post-game so good that it confused people's minds like GSC.

Kanto is a glorified boss rush with nothing to do outside fighting gym leaders. It's the best example of Quantity over Quality.

One thing I don't understand is why is Houndour in Kanto only? There's like 3 fire pokemon and they lock one away in Kanto who wasn't even an original and another away as a starter. You're pretty much forced to used Growlithe/Vulpix if you want a fire mon on your team without Cyndaquil and you can't evolve the damn thing till Kanto anyway outside of getting a fire stone from a random phone call. Gen 2 is my favourite gen but this has always irked me.

Crystal is so easy that you don't need to evolve stone evo mons. I can beat the entire game with poliwhirl alone.

No, it's not. Crystal has the difference that you can get stones via pokegear calls afyer the 4th GYM. Just add these:

-Picknicker Gina (Route 34) @ Leaf Stone
-Lass Dana (Route 38) @ Thunder Stone
-Schoolboy Alan (Route 36) @ Fire Stone
-Fisher Tully (Route 42) @ Water Stone
