Resources are limited. When it comes to a niche series from a small developer you can only do so much. People need to give indie devs more credit. Sure, Nintendo might help out a bit here and there but keep in mind that money doesn't just print itself. Also who cares it's just a couple of models anyway? It's not even the final version. The game itself isn't even affected and they can put that time they didn't waste on animations on fledging out stuff like difficulty modes, post-game content, cutscene options, QoL improvements etc.
So stop being so demanding and just enjoy what we get. You should be thankful there is someone still working on what is frankly a pretty old series at this point. It's not a given that sequels keep coming out. The best thing you can do is to keep supporting them with your wallets so at some point they might be able to take some risks.
Let's all come together and donate to a Pokemon gofundme. They clearly need one and as fans of the series we have to give something back at some point.
