>>38289203I think the reason we always have the same arguments when it comes to Sword and Shield is because people siding with Sword and Shield think they are always argueing against the children who posts the same photoshopped BotW images. Since everything has to be one of two extremes nowadays.
I think the pokemon graphics right now basically look as good as they could, the animations aren't great (better than previous games slightly but still not as good as they could be) and some pokemon will still look bad thanks to some poorly proportioned 3D models, but overall they look pretty good, not really any visible jaggies, textures look good, etc. The only real way they could be improved is to somehow make them look more "anime" (e.g. something like what arc system works games look like, albeit that is impossible to achieve currently in a proper 3D game since they achieve the look through lots of little cheats that only really work because its a fighting game).
The trainer models are where things are iffier though, they arent really too far off the norm for the switch (switch is only a little more powerful than the PS3, but there are a fair few visible jaggies on the clothing, perhaps because they didnt spend too much time on each individual set of clothing due to character customization.
The terrain textures are the real low point though, again they arent really that far off the norm (BotW has far worse textures in many areas, though it is also an open world game), some better LoD system or something to make the textures very close to the camera higher res would probably go a long way. People keep posting the Minccino Pikachu image and I do think its probably a good example of the worst case scenario, since both pokemon are small which forces the camera close to the ground. The background also looks kind of bad but it looks like we will be having a much wider variety of backgrounds dependant on where battles start so that might be the reason.
