The wormhole system was just terribly implemented. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea, and some of the levels they made for the ultra beasts are decent, but you are spot-on that they are ultimately corridors without lore.

Necrozma stole the light there so over time the people gained blue skin cause of the darkness they made a gaint tower with a big beam of light for the people and to hold necrozma but it breaks out you save them and it reveled that one day they will have light again just not anytime soon they have pokemon like the box legendarys and poipole who is a starter there might be more pokemon there but who knows?
