diamond and Pearl where good and the jump to ds too, people say it was too little too late but its an improvement on them nonetheless and is the best way to experience sinnoh today.
iirc it did well at the time too, I think the "flack" here are mostly contrarians trying to be cool

It was faster than DP but it was still really slow compared to any other pokemon generation.

Gen 4 is the only gen where i feel compelled to turn off animations.
