>>38304510I can take that, but then the main point of the whole argument is that Phys/Special split was overrated, which pretty much means "it is more important than the merit it receives". And I can argue against that.
Physical/Special split has two things going on for it: gameplay and lore.
In terms of gameplay, it allowed new Pokémon roles to arise. Now you don't have the same types taking the spotlight for being physical or special. Now it happens that you can have, say, good physical water attackers and good special fighting attackers, just to put an example. Now you don't have a total of 17 types (not counting Fairy) out of which 9 are physical and 8 are special - you effectively have 17 physical and 17 special types, which allows for further diversification. This single handedly made the game more diverse and allowed for more choices and interesting niches.
In terms of lore, there's no wondering why Hyper Beam is physical and Fire Punch special anymore. I don't think I need to delve deeper into this to tell why it is a good thing.
>>38304562The Gardevoir point is debatable despite the main point of the thread.
>this varies wildly from game to gameI specifically mentioned JRPGs for a reason. Dark Souls is not a game you can truly compare to Pokémon. Both are RPGs but also play wildly differently.
