I only do it with old Pokemon games. Its really the only way to get immersed in the gameplay. The sprites make it easier to imagine stuff, with 3D models its kinda boring since the battles are more detailed. Its why Mystery dungeon is so fun for me. In a way, theres ironically less immersion for me in 3D.

They aren’t. It’s the way they’re presented that breaks the sense of adventure. The Alola games felt like a guided tour, and Sword and Shield probably will too.
