Aw yes, here we have the usual anon express his disgruntlement with generation 7 Pokemon for the umpteenth time. I applaud his attempt at something new by posting a familiar photo from 2016 but 3 years have pass so this act offers nothing of value. Such nativity from the mind to believe that designs would remain strong after a decade's worth of time. Such self-entitlement from his being to think that designs would be up to his standards rather than adapt to the new, and worse, tastes of modern children. I too dislike the outcomes of Alola but its existence relative to me is to convey that I should acquire new skills and live out life rather than remain a child at heart so to evolve as the Pokemon I cherished have.

as a grassfag for 6 gens, gen 7 is the first time I didn't chose a grass starter on my playthrough bc decidueye is shit.
Design-wise, it's too lame unlike the vastly superior dhelmise. Not even cute like tsareena.

See. This is what happens when everyone neglects Torterra and approve of the other human-influenced two. Before you know it, all Gen 5 starters have human themes but still look like animals, Gen 6 continues this but all are now humanoid, and Gen 7 evolves on this even more with less subtle human themes

Swampert -> the least liked of his generation
The reason for GF to go progressively more human lies within the fandom. We complain about those, but ever since Gen I we prefer the bipedal starters, the more human-like the better. Emboar is probably the only exception to this rule (but just because fat and third Fire/Fighting in a row).

I don't get that mentality, man. Just because there's some theme behind a Pokemon, it means that it's automatically good. It makes no sense. Look at Emploeon, Infernape and Torterra. All three have something thematic. Emploeon's French aristocrat and overall royal imagery comes across perfectly. Torterra being based on the Buddhist (?) belief that the world exists on the back of a giant turtle is still clever. Infernape's direct reference to Sun Wukong is great. And they're all better artistically than Decidueye, Primarina and Incineroar. Theme is great, but it needs to be backed up by design or else it falls flat.
