Seriously what's so hard about drawing Venusaur for Sugimori to complain too much about its complexity?
it's literally a toad with a flower on its back, it's not over-designed mess like most of the legendaries and ultra beasts.
Even manga artists look they enjoy drawing it.

Venusaur isn't that hard to draw, though the leaves are the annoying part of it.

Blastoise is really the one of the original 9 that I found the hardest to draw.

By modern sensibilities, it is a fairly complicated design. I tried to do a quick Gen 6/7/8 redesign to prove that all you need to do is remove a few minor/unnecessary details to bring it in line with the simpler and more toy-like designs that he's used to.

You're drawing a tree, on top of a frog monster, and they both have to line up properly and look good. It's a fairly complicated design to render.

That being said, he's still a faggot.

It is if you are staying 100% anatomically correct. Graveler falls under this category too. If you take creative liberties woth the placements of the warts and plants, it’s not so bad. But if you wanna draw it perfectly it becomes a pain.

They have slowly simplified Graveler’s design for this same reason. They both represent a classic manga texturization. They fill space and add depth. Torterra fits this as well
