Are Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity and Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon worth playing? I read they removed Wonder Mails, last I played was Sky and that was good, but it was also a long, long time ago.

i got gates to infinity for 15$ on ebay its pretty fun yet surprisingly dark for a pokemon game and can be rather difficult

Just watch a playthrough. It's the worst gameplay-wise, but the story's pretty good (by Pokemon standards, anyway).

Best gameplay. Plot is terrible. A rehash of Explorers', except the first 1/3rd of the story has no reason to exist.

I never played Gates, but I played Super. It has some flaws, like a slow start and the annoying break system, but I really liked it regardless. I'd say it's worth playing.

Yes, definitely.

Rescue missions for other players exist in Super, at least. GtI has infinite random missions like the previous games, but Super only has a limited amount of semi-random missions instead.

Why do people complain about Super's story having a "slow start"? The story in Explorers does the same, except it's less comfy and the characters are boring. The Ancient Barrow section of the story is one of my favourite PMD plots.

It's more of a hindsight thing for me. Sure, the school kids were easily the best characters in Super, and you could describe this section as 'cosy', but it ultimately served almost no purpose in the actual overall plot.

If the kids remained part of the story until the end, then I'd have liked the Serene Village stuff a lot more.

My issue with the partner is that sort of personality is endearing in smaller doses. Him being front and centre of the entire story made him really wear on me throughout the story's run time. The ending left me feeling hollow as a result.

He'd have been excellent if the school kids had more of a presence with the partner's presence being slightly toned down, kind of like what they did with Gates.
