I think ORAS gets tonnes of undeserved hate. To this day I think it's the comfiest of the modern titles. Why don't you like it anon?

I easily would. Gen III is the best Pokemon gen, two main problem I have with the remake is.
A.Botched designs for the humans. Especially Brenden and most of team magma. Also half the characters have their personality altered for no reason.
B. Lowered difficulty to the point of it being laughable, it is the easiest game in the series and a total cakewalk.

While that may be the case, I doubt anyone would play ORAS over E. The Battle Frontier was a really important part of Hoenn for a lot of people. If GF had just had the Maison in one of the major cities or somewhere in Hoenn proper, it would have been fine. But making the stupid Battle Frontier project reference was a slap in the face.

They're alright. added DexNav, added new megas, made contests fun, added mirage islands and the overworld flying which I really appreciated.
They're kinda lackluster other than those things though, it's nice seeing Hoenn in a 3D environment, but that's not really enough to warrant a remake for a game that was already fine.
They're in-between R/S and Emerald for me, they improve upon R/S but removed a bunch of bells and whistles that Emerald had added.

That being said, if the Battle Frontier was added in, it would've improved them ten fold. Because while they still wouldn't be as content filled as Emerald, at least they would have a fun post-game.

It has less handholding than Sun / Moon / XY.
That alone makes it better than those games even if the difficulty is trivial and it doesn't live up to the old games. A 1:1 remake was all people wanted.

Basically Emerald > ORAS > Ruby and Sapphire.
Battle Frontier is probably the biggest reason behind it and the game as a remake being roughly equal to the original is a problem

At least USUM only gave you Poipole near the end, and SM required you to catch Solgaleo/Lunala.

I don't care about the Battle Frontier, but I do think Emerald is a better game in general because of the added difficulty to Gym Leader teams, for instance. I also wish they scaled down on the amount of HMs, because I really find the latter quarter of any Hoenn game to be extremely monotonous and boring.

At least they made it so Flash is a TM and I think Rock Smash because of how theyre TMs in previous gens, but these were remakes, it makes sense that they kept in all the HMs. If we ever get Diamond and Pearl remakes will you be expecting the amount of required field moves to be lowered even though they wont be?

i played half of it then got board but that's not a oras problem that's a modern game problem as i also played sun and moon up to the first trial and have not touched that game ever since.

which is a shame as gen 3 is my favourite gen
