Adding a new pokemon was a bad idea from the start.
Decidueye is my favorite starter and i think he wouldve made a terrible smash rep since we already have plenty of archers. and due to the limited amount of newcomers for ultimate, a shitty shill pick like incineroar really stands out. That last spot shouldve gone to another ballot pick, not some character designers shitty fursona.

I loved how they went into turbo-shitpost mode about mid-september and kept it going full-bore till they got crushed. I mean, even if you didn't think Vergeben was correct, there's no way in hell you should have fallen for such an unrealistic set of new entrants, when the director of the game had flat-out told the world not to expect too many new fighters added to the base game this time out as he'd busted his arse to bring all past characters back at the same time.

He was my Pokemon pick alongside Primarina. I was worried he was going to be braindead but Sakurai actually made him a really technical character and the fact that he mugs after every successful hit is icing on the cake.

When the ballet was open I voted for Starman from the NES game Pro Wrestling because I wanted a pro wrestler moveset. The fake leak didn't really appeal to me-- the only character I wanted was Mach Rider. Overall, I'm happy.

Still gonna miss Mach Rider though.

I didnt feel like we needed a new pokemon, just to tick the imaginary check list, and I didn't think it should be another fire pokemon, let alone another starter.

I know he was chosen because he was a wrestler, but I much would have preferred it if Sakurai reinvented Star Man from Pro Wrestling on the NES the way he reinvented Pit, potentially paving the way for a reboot of an old IP instead of shilling for an IP that always succeeds no matter how little effort they put into their product.
