>>38339686I'm not the same person to whom you were responding, but my own problem with it was more the use of ORAS Hoenn's awful cliff tiles than anything. I hate how saturated they are - and that they're so blocky on the 3DS. Both RSE Hoenn (on which the maps were based) and XY (on which the engine was based) had significantly more appealing color choices all around, which makes me wonder why ORAS picked such a high-contrast palette...
And for that matter, I think that even any somewhat-blocky shapes in X and Y were more naturally integrated, whereas ORAS went out of their way to look like a GBA map.
It just frustrates me that one of the main selling points of ORAS was supposed to be that it rebuilt RSE with a modern engine and modern visuals, but the visuals try so hard to call back to the originals that they are an awkward step back from the previous games and *also* look much worse on a modern engine than RSE did in 2D. HGSS were much more liberal with their interpretations of maps and looked more natural for it, so I'm disappointed that ORAS fell so short aesthetically (and surprised after XY's region aesthetic was one of the only things they got RIGHT...).
But back on topic, yeah, Route 113 is the best no matter which game you're playing.
