>generic plot
>only 60ish new Pokémon, only a few interesting ones

>mostly mediocre to earsplittingly bad music
>HUGE downgrade from gen 5
>more vanilla than gen 1
>felt unfinished with the power plant and Zygarde

Regional variants were neat but they weren’t really fully expanded upon

Least favorite by far is S/M (didn't bother with US/UM or LGP/LGE) i think that the game was more focused on the story than in letting the player explore and when the game let the player explore the region it didn't offer anything worthwhile.
First game in the series where i didn't even bother to catch all of the new Pokemon, but gotta say that the girls on the game where top quality same with US/UM and LGP/LGE.
As for my favorite has to be Platinum mostly because the region is fucking huge and even though the HM are annoying in the great scheme of things they are a nitpick when you see how many shit go have to do in the game.
A shame that Lillie and co are trapped in such awful games.

Replaying it isn't the best thing, but playing it for the first time as a kid really made me feel like there was a secret around every corner.

Least favorite
A lot of the spinoffs like LGPE and such are hit or miss for me. Least favorite mainline is XY
>unmemorable locations and characters
>too few new mons introduced
>Megas aren't permanent and are mostly OP so they feel like they brought less to the world than Alola forms
Compared to USUM its highs aren't that high but its negative aspects aren't as bad. I hate a lot about USUM/SM but I can also point to a bunch of things I genuinely like about USUM/SM but I can't really do the same with XY

>half the region is water routes, and the routes all have the same species wild Pokemon
>even worse, the Swimmer trainers use the same Pokemon you find in the wild, but at even lower levels than in the wild
>Requires 8 HMs to progress in the game
>3 HMs are water, and pre-phy/spc split, so Waterfall and Dive were essentially just worse versions of Surf
>ORAS fixes all of these issues and adds content like all the new Pokemon, Megas, and PSS, so no reason to play RSE
