Playing VGC Ultra Series doubles on Showdown, the team diversity is wide, with the one exception of Incineroar appearing on nearly each team. Obviously there's more popular mons (Kyogre, Groudon) but I've not had a mirror match once on Showdown this format.
Even further, having similar pokemon doesn't make it a 50/50, if anything it requires MORE talent and strategy to determine how to take down an opponent with the same tools as you. If it was a 50/50, the winner of the tournament wouldn't be having about an ~80% WR.
