ORAS has the quality of life improvements, but Emerald doesn't have the handholding and endless cutscene festivals of later gens. And it's also insulting that they didn't use the Emerald plot. It could have been amazing to see Kyogre vs. Groudon ft. Fug from the Sky Pillar in 3D, but they decided to go full retard on that when HGSS even incorporated the Suicune story from Crystal.
ORAS on their own are good games, but as remakes, they're terrible.

Both are great games. ORAS has all the QoL improvements which make the gameplay slightly more enjoyable, but suffers from massive casualization and massive hand holding throughout most of the game. One could also argue that it virtually has no replay value. Emerald, while it still hold it's charm with sprites, classic pokemon gameplay and difficulty, might be dated if you're used to playing the newer titles.
Ultimately it's up to you, but Emerald seems to be the ''definitive'' experience.

Yes, same with people who prefer GSC over HGSS. There’s only reason to play GSC now that HGSS exist is nostalgia, same for RSE. ORAS is better than Emerald in every way

Depends on your mindset. ORAS has online, somewhat restructured battles, modern mechanics, and DexNav. In contrast, Emerald has pre-split, the Frontier, and more double battles during its main story. ORAS does, however, have a lot more handholding in exchange for a more cohesive story. Both games are piss easy regardless, so pick your poison.

ORAS was uninspired, the game was more or less the same as RS but with gen 6 models. The delta episode was boring and too short, I feel like it should have been more integrated with the main story instead of being an afterthought. ORAS is the only remake I actually consider a lazy cash-grab, LGPE was a better remake.

ORAS was a remake of Ruby/Sapphire. I'd call it better if it managed to work in things like juggling both of the villains while still using Emerald's plot, the better Gym Battles, and the rematches, but it felt like it tried to take nothing from the definitive third version and tried to very slightly improve the originals.

Nope, I only bought Emerald because I felt disappointed by ORAS. Never played RS either. Emerald gives you more challenging content, ORAS gives you filler content.

Emerald was better, although ORAS had some cool features like mega Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza, and the Delta episode. Emerald overall was better though, better difficulty and had more longevity

Oras is better.
-you get to fly on rayquaza into space to battle deoxys
-you go a date with your cutie patootie bf/gf
-amazing music
-improved secret bases
-soaring
-way improved graphics

The only thing I liked more in emerald was that both kyogre and groudon were in the main story

Damn, both are good. I'd argue that Rayquaza makes Emerald's scene, while Deoxys is what really makes ORAS's scene. Worst cut-scene is still watching Beutiflys with the rival.

Frontier is probably my favorite mainline feature to date so the answer is obvious. But Emerald also feels much smoother to play in general (better framerate, no handholding, no transitions). ORAS only advantage is DexNav really.

The weird thing is that Emerald could make far, far fewer changes than ORAS, but it generally made the most meaningful ones, and much more substantial ones than were really necessary. ORAS fluffs the game in a lot of great ways, but a lot of those upgrades don't feel quite complete, and with no substantial new locations, new battle challenges, and a story that is hollow easy, there just isn't much to DO with most of it. It spends more time modernizing Ruby/Sapphire for the sake of it than actually making them better, though it does do that in a few places.
