It is what it is. They’re games marketed towards children (Japanese children arguably their primary market, and US/UK their second market)
I’m not a game designer, I’m not going to be a game designer, and I will never work for GF/Nintendo. The series has many flaws, but nothing is truly perfect in this world. I don’t believe in rewarding mediocrity, but I’m not their target audience.
A 6-12 year old kid is going to be a lot less critical than someone who is 18+ And has more life experience. If their target audience isn’t going to care about the effort, why make an effort at all? What’s the incentive if it’ll be bought anyway?
I liked it as a kid, and got back into it as an adult. It kills time when I can’t be on my primary consoles, and it’s always a fun nostalgia trip. Love it or hate it, GF will beat this dead horse until they can’t turn a profit, or it becomes Japans Disney/Mickey Mouse.
