Just got back from a press screening of this shit.

Overall good movie with some fan service scenes.

- one joke is tim and pikachu walking past a market where a man is blasting a horn. Pikachu says "he must be from hoenn.
_ you can see an ad for a massage parlour with a lopunny, gardevior, and gothitelle on the poster.
- tim has tickets to kanto, there's a group of johto tourists, hoenn is a running joke with people making causal mocking statements about it being to wet, sinnoh is referred to as "a holy place that we will all return to", unova is on alot of background ads for many products from the region, kalos and alola are on billboards advertising vacations.
- tim catches two of the greninjas and the psyduck towards the end of tne movie.
- only part of the pikachu mystery is solved(to set up a sequel)
-mid credit scene is a joke about pokemon form other regions and we see some red badger like pokemon with what looks like broken cuffs.(multiple midcredit scenes where filmed and different countries will have different pokemon)
- post credit scene is tim and pikachu hiking in the mountains when ominous music starts to play. Tim sees someone with a pikachu standing on a ledge above him. Tim calls out to the man but gets no response. But the pikachu replies with a pika pika and ryan Reynolds pikachu makes a oh no quip followd by a humorous back and forth between him and tim. Detective pikachu finally tells tim that the other pikachu is saying "trainer red wants to battle". Music crescendos and acreen cuts to black.


After the screening there was a brief press event about follow up films in development if this one does well. Among theme are a "proper" kanto movie, a pokemon ranget movie about the oceans and water pokemon, a ghost pokemon horror movie, and a detective pikachu sequel
