>>38380797Even so, I've experienced Pokemania, and it shaped an entire generation of young people. The next generation never grew up with Pokemania but they should if Pokemon is to continue growing. I mean, the original Star Wars kids grew up well into their 40s and 50s, yet the franchise retains generations of kids to promote their products. Pokemon needs to stay on top.
>>38380824Gen 1 was Pokemon done right: it was about you exploring a magical fantasy world to catch monsters. Every other game since has had a straightforward plot and a built-up story and characters. It feels less magical.
>>38380829People can like Pokemon however they please.
>>38380855Many children grew up with Pokemon as a fad, but Pokemon also got a lot of media attention out of it. Every company and their subsidiary licensed the ever loving shit out of Pokemon to sell their products. Pokemon was talked about constantly on media and news stations. Even people who didn't care about video games and trading cards were swept up in the mania. This wasn't just a fad; it was a conversation piece that shook up the entire world for a few years. As a longtime Pokemon fan who became a hardcore and dedicated Pokemon trainer through Pokemania, I want Pokemon to shape the lives of even more people and experience its magic the same way I did. Pokemon shouldn't be a fad. Star Wars and Harry Potter were fads, but people are still interested in them. Pokemon should be as prominent in Western culture as those series.
