Im pretty sure they said this how they would look i know they look a bit dusty? i guess but this is a good balance of real something not to ugly or scary like other fans artist think pokemon would look in real life

This pic is a good example of what i mean if the charmander line was real i don't expect them to look like that DP charizard got it right it real but it still looks like a pikemon

I think Detective Pikachu nails it.
They're uncanny, sure, but they're respectful to the original designs. They didn't try to make their proportions more realistic or anything.

I also like that they didn't go for pure KANTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO pandering.
