Unironically, the open world meme would make for a very immersive Pokemon game, because you wouldn’t be streamlined down a path, you’d have to cut your own path through the wilderness and stuff with the team you’re raising. It would also need lots of love and care put into the catching system, to make it feel like you earned your mons. They’d have to change lots of gameplay mechanics as well, so as to remove autistic IV breedgrinding (and therefore eugenics). They’d also have to up the trainer-Pokemon interactions, like feeding them, playing with them, etc.
Honestly that’d be really fun, because there’s so many Pokemon now, that everyone would have really unique stories that they’d share about the game online, and bring together tons of people.
