Designs you only find in Kaiju movies. Not your mom's aliens but bigger, although that's what they were 9/10 they had more originality and inspiration behind them. It was preferable to not be able to understand or decipher what it was, this general confusion and intimidation plays off the fear of the unknown. And it serves to make them more alien and more formidable.
