not happening, not even the most well acclaimed openworld games still recycle content like a bitch

it would have to have the caveat of not having every pokemon or stripped back mechanics

Pokemon has carved out a niche for itself as a relatively simple and linear JRPG. There will never be a mainline pokemon game that is open world. Even if they do it will be a spinoff and probably even more casual/scaled back in mechanics than the main series is.
