DP are the highest selling post-Pokemania main games and are very highly favored in Japan, and with the critically acclaimed Pt and HGSS, Gen 4 was a pretty good period as well. Gen 7 Pokemon Go was the first time Pokemon seeped back into main culture since Pokemania though, and a second renaissance seems likely with Detective Pikachu
