Pokemon under Tajiri's hand was shit and Gen 2 literally would not have seen the light of day without Iwata.
Pokemania was a fad and only non-fans hype it up because it was their childhood and nothing more. These people aren't actually even fans of Gens 1 or 2, but rather fans of their childhood.
Gen 3-5 was objectively the best period to be a Pokemon fan, with the best mainline and spinoffs
We've been going through a Dark Age since Gen 7, Gen 6 at least showed some promise and had some okay spinoffs before it was cut short.
There's nothing wrong with skub.

That's the reason why it sucks. If they had left out KANTO and focused more on Johto, it wouldn't have had the terrible level curve or fucked pokemon distribution. Instead the opposite happened and Johto will forever live in Kanto's shadow.

Sure it does. All Pokemon series storylines are garbage, including Johto's. The thing is that GSC's only relevant storyline (Team Rocket Revival) is intentionally forgettable and much shorter than the rest of the series' lines so that you can get back to wandering around and catching and battling your monsters which is the real appeal of the series.

Castelia, the Relic Castle and the bridges are the only notable parts of BW1 which can be compared in a sense to Goldenrod City, Mt. Mortar and the water path to Cianwood. In all honesty MMO style massively varied biomes all within short walking distance from each other is pretty rare in the series for a reason.

i did, the battles are all boring just like the rest of the game/series, making thing higher levels doesn't make it more interesting. And if you have White 2 you don't even get Challenge mode
The best it gets is with battle facilities like the PWT/BF where it restricts the rpg aspects to make it more like competitive matches but even then you're playing against the crappy AI so it doesn't really matter

I agree, I think 4 and 5 was the peak of Pokemon. I also liked gen 3 because it had a strong emphasis on connectivity but online stuff hadn't started yet. So it forced you to meet people IRL to trade and battle. I met some of my IRL friends through trading and battling during gen 3.
