Play emerald, then platinum, then BW1/2
If you want remakes then do FRLG and HGSS. Don't forget colosseum/XD.

If you want to complete the dex, you need to do emerald then colosseum, then grab lunatone and zangoose from XD since otherwise you would need to grab them from Ruby and sapphire.
I am currently working on it.

Play the remakes, either OmegaRuby or AlphaSapphire. They're unironically really fucking good, they're where you left off, and they'll be a decent, fast, and available introduction into what the modern games are like right now.
