Does anyone else avoid all wild battles? If a wild Pokemon shows up I either catch it if I want it or flee right away. Don't want to overlevel my mons.

Then perhaps venture a little into the route or cave to find said new pokemon, catch new pokemon if desired, then maybe, JUST MAYBE, use repels?

What happens to the wild pokemon we faint? Do they get eaten by the other pokemon we didn't knock out? I would assume that survival of the fittest applies to the pokemon world

Not trying to strawman but when I was a child I did.
I realized when I was about 14 that the game is ABOUT battling, so walking around grass and trainers defeats the fucking purpose.

I always battle and catch one of every pokemon species in the area then run away from everything else. If I'm on an area that only has pokemon I already have, I'll just beat what comes on my way when I'm crossing the grass. I find games to be a little more enjoyable this way, battles stop being about pressing a button to win when you are on the same level or lower than gym leaders.

Avoiding trainers is in a whole different level than avoiding random battles. You basically don't do anything on random battles, you just press a button to make a pokemon disappear from your sight.

No I literally walk around each route looking for mons then I I usually make sure I catch every mon in a route before proceeding. I also just fight them over and over in the process while waiting for the rare mon of the area to show up so I'm usually way over leveled. In my sun playthrough right now all my mons are over 27 and I'm just now on the second island most wild are 15-17 where I am

How do you overlevel? I'm pretty much always underleveling gyms and always go into the league with early to mid 40s

by fighting wild mons when you don't need to, the trainer levels actually make a lot of sense if you only do them and use 3-4 different main mons
