>>38411204After the Spaceworld demo for Gold and Silver blew up last year, somebody contacted Helix Chamber claiming they had early assets from throughout Red and Green's development as Capsule Monsters and Pocket Monsters (along with an early Mew sprite for Japanese Blue). These assets date anywhere between 1990 and 1995 (1996 for Mew). HC had determined that Kotora and Raitora from the Spaceworld demo were actually scrapped from Gen I, but they hadn't made this information known yet, so as proof of authenticity, they asked this supposed leaker what Pokémon was present in that particular index spot, and they were right. They received back sprites, maps, some text documents, NPC sprites, overworld sprites, etc., but not front sprites for Pokémon. After that, the guy went silent. They did not initially reveal that they had this, and wanted to reveal it as a surprise. How they revealed it was dumb, but so were the reactions.
They did a live stream on a Sunday night but had to keep delaying the reveal and acting coy because some people weren't showing up, until early in the morning. People had to work (or in /vp/'s case, go to school), and they revealed it by playing what was obviously a ROM hack of Yellow. They had come up with their own front sprites, names, and Pokédex entries based on what they could figure out about the back sprites. People were not happy, especially since they were still waiting on a translation of the Spaceworld demo (there are misconceptions about this as well), and people who doubted the Spaceworld demo (which is 100% real) used this as an excuse to discredit everything about Helix Chamber.
