So I'm a 20 year old zoomer who's first game was a copy of Pokemon diamond that I played into dust. Recently I decided to play gen 3, the only generation I hadn't truly played. And I gotta say I think it's my damn favorite.

I really want to try and complete the gen 3 Pokedex. My question to you old fags is since I'm playing these games off of a DS lite with a GBA cartridge, will I need to buy 2 actual GBA's with link cables to be able to trade with myself? Also gen 3 thread I guess

Yeah I read that I would literally need every game. I'm probably just gonna crack and do it. I already have emerald and fire red. Might as well bite the bullet and finish it off

I tried to do the same thing. Its kinda tough.

Feebas will be a bit annoying to find and catch. If your GBA cartridge clock battery is dead like mine evolving it wont be as easy as growing the right berries cause the berries wont grow. I think you can use thief on some wild pokemon to get the right berries though.(or pick up)

Youll need other cartridges for the starters and lunatone iirc. Lunatone also serves as your source of more essential moonstones. The game only gives you one but i think you need 3 for a full dex

The battery is gonna be dead on all of them I'm sure. It's dead on my emerald and fire red at least. Feebas and milotic are definitely going to be a challenge. But I think the rest of them should be relatively simple compared to that RNG fest

Get a flashcard and use GBABackuptool to rip the save file from the cart
Then use VBA or PKHeX to trade with yourself

You're gonna need both fire red and leaf green as well as sapphire and emerald for the GBA side of things. You'll also need colosseum and GoD for the gamecube to get some of harder to obtain Johto mon.
You can play through ruby if you want but sapphire is definitely the better choice since you won't be able to find seviper anywhere else.
You'll need at least two GBAs with a link cable and a gamecube with a GC to GBA cable.

Get a GameCube, coliseum and a few cables. Might as well go out and experience Gen 3 properly. Hell, a gba player would make things top comfy.
