Admittedly the RSE trainer battle theme isn't that much better in that regard but imo the tune and soundfont is way easier on the ears.

It made them all feel really connected and different at the same time or whatever. It's a mystery to me how anyone could not like the rival battle theme from RSE in particular. It goes through all these different moods and even sounds almost Arabian or something at points idk.
As for the gen 4 frontier brain song, I've never heard it until now but imo it's pretty shit until it gets to the main melody that was made for gen 3. Until then it's just a collection of nothingy sounds for me.
I guess this is just one of those things where it's a matter of opinion and stuff but I've always believed that some things are just objectively good and some aren't. For me I've always thought the majority of songs from gens 1-4 are objectively better than 5-7 because there's always so much more variation in the emotion in the songs + so much more going on with the instruments so it feels like there's way more effort put in and they just sound better overall.
