1. When I was young it was "cool" to make a tiny knot with your (school) shirt when summer was arriving. We all did it and it looked just like Chicken's knot. A small knot by the side (some at front) that didn't show anything, really.
2. This trend started to get popular, at least in my country, and shirts with two extra cloth thingies were made specifically to be tied, because again, it looked "cool"
So at least from my personal experience her shirt works.
