He's not the most competitively apt Pokemon (blame Gamefreak for no Shell Smash or anything else interesting) but the amount of bashing I saw the other week is ridiculous. That being said, he seems lorewise the most defensively inclined and also like a large cannon so being that fortress that is with Protect/Iron Defence while shooting down foes from afar would be pretty cool along with an array of moves like Water Pulse, Hydro Pump, Aura Sphere, Dark Pulse, Flash Cannon, Ice Beam. I guess Water Spout for high damage early on. Yeah obviously he can't do all of that at once and it isn't like a turn by turn basis, I imagine, so I think perhaps Blastoise itself can stand a chance provided the guys that come in don't close in and hit it immediately. Blaziken will get wrecked by any Water move as it tries to attack up close, Charizard X from probable Dragon Pulse or strong water moves, Charizard Y if it has Solarbeam can inflict major damage and all Blastoise can do is set up manual Rain Dance and launch water moves from afar but will probably dissipate from the strong sun but I'd like to think there's still some chance (or a random Rock Slide for no reason I guess). Once it gets ganged on by everyone, then it probably won't last too long though, or Venusaur will go and put it to sleep, or Sceptile will launch its Leaf Blades from afar, but I think Blastoise does better than it appears.
