>>38457094>HilbertClearly gen 5 being a soft reboot extended into character design as well, as Hilbert appears to be iterating on Red more than anything else. The biggest differences would be swapping out the backpack for a messenger bag, and the general colour palette. With the female trainer sporting lighter colours with pink, white and light blue, Hilbert focuses more on blue and dark brown, with the protagonist-indicating red highlight reserved for the cap that you so often end up looking at in a top-down overworld (and his shoes, I guess). Nothing really offensive here, just another solid design onto the pile.
>NateWhat were they thinking? It's not that he looks outrageously bad, it's just when I look at him, the mind just boggles as to what dictated his choice of clothing. What IS with the wetsuit-looking thing under everything else? Is he going to the beach with those shorts? What's with the bushy hairdo? A thing of note is that the colour choices didn't really change this time around.
>CalemWhat can I say about this dude? I was apathetic from the word go that we were getting another really fucking blue guy with a red cap. Granted, gen6 had dressup customisation, but I happily chose Serena for that.
>ElioI hardly have an opinion on this guy either, but at least a striped t-shirt at this point is a bit refreshing. Also the customisation thing.
I'd pick Red and Brendan as my favourites, Red for establishing that basic real world-esque aesthetic that others would follow, and Brendan for going all out with the more fantastical 'Pokemon training is a sport and profession in this world' approach. Hilbert would be higher on my list had the protags following him not soured my opinion on the colour blue as a whole.
Blue girls are still fair game, though.
