Change/add colors and play with the body shape and stance. Go in a more specialized direction with the design theme instead of just enlarging every part of the previous stage. Just look at some of the real Pokemon examples that don't just get bigger.

Use the Axew line as a reference
Haxorus looks related Axew but is strongly different in design. Fraxure serves a the transitional bridge. It's a bit closer to Axew's design but now shares design elements of the final form
