the level curve doesn't really matter or affect challenge in any way, the game progresses the same, it doesn't affect the difficulty because your pokemon are at the same levels

It indirectly does
The higher the level curve, the earlier you can access certain mons and get better moves
I need not bring up BW's level curve for you to see why keeping it so low is such a bad idea

people like hgss mostly because of the atmosphere. I really wanted to bring myself to like sinnoh but it manages to be good only on paper for me. The game just starts feeling tedious halfway through, The region is big, sure, but it's so fucking hollow

Not sure if this an argument against HGSS or against Pt, the former is more consistent with their teams in terms of typing although the latter's variety wasn't really a bad thing imo, at least they still had a strong representation of their type in question. Also Cynthia and Lance's teams fit their characters very well I don't see how either could be an argument against the other.
