Does anyone else have weird nicknames for their pokemon? And I'm not talking about shit like calling your gardevoir nigger. I've started shortening pokemon names for no reason. Croagunk is now crunk, snorunt is now snunt, etc.

I really hope I'm not alone in this

I did that a few times, but for like an entire run. Like I’m pretty sure my first run through of X I called my Chespin Chess.

One thing I do do with nicknames is give them nicknames having nothing to do with the actual Pokémon. Like my current Pokémon black team has names after bands I like such as Americ anf(Samurott), Jawbreaker(Cokelldurr) and Ozma(Stoutland)

That's not too weird, I often nickname mons what could be alternate species names.
Generally I try to go with something that has multiple meanings/puns.

My team in Black version was all named after types of pastries.

I am autistic about either catching most pokemon in pokeballs only or balls that have matching colors of the pokemon, like great ball for druddigon or ultra ball for vespiquen

I still move the damn d-pad in circles when I throw the ball have since Red. it's part of the experience now, I know it doesn't work it's just habit

Oh and in oras I exclusively use the dpad when walking. I never liked the circle pad on the 3ds. I dropped Alola exclusively for this reason.

I nickname my 'Mons based on whatever TV show or movie I saw recently. My current Crystal play through has nicknames from Mary Poppins.
I've created tons of stories about dozens of OC characters. Each play through is a (usually) different story for some character or another. I don't bother writing things down for them because I'm afraid that they're too autistic for other people to read or enjoy.
I'm creating a region and subsequent Dex completely of my own design for an upcoming PTU game I'm running for my game group. That itaelf isnt wierd, but the autism comes in the stats. Each 'Mon will be balanced of a sliding scale of raw Power vs Versatility (So the higher the BST, the narrower the move pool and vice versa). I'm trying really hard to keep every species relevant throughout the whole game.

I did something like this in my Ruby Nuzlocke. I just named them complete gibberish though. (Helifron, Greflo, and Blaarg, for example).

I don't repeat types, with very few exceptions.
I cover each type weakness at least once, and make sure I don't have a glaring type weakness on my team.
I try not to use Ghost or Dragon types because I hate "strong against itself" matchups. I'll use a Dark type and a Ice/Fairy type instead. Very few exceptions, like Golurk or Kingdra.
I catch my Pokemon only in standard Pokeballs.
If a Pokemon is more masculine in appearance, it must be a male. If it looks feminine, female. If it looks gender-neutral, male.
If I already have a Pokemon with a certain body shape, I won't use another of that shape. For example, I'll refuse to use both Decidueye and Oricorio because they are both birds (owls not being birds meme aside), despite not repeating types.
I don't use certain Pokemon because the shift to 3D made their appearances horrendous.
I'll breed in-game for Egg Moves as long as the move is readily available at that point in the game, like getting Leech Seed onto a Chikorita.
I dress my trainer as I would dress, not some OC bullshit.

I name my pokemon based on whatever song I'm into during that time. Pretty sure I named my Tapu Koko King Kunta and my Salazzle something like Blackstar

In gen 7, I'm nicknaming my breedjects with numbers so I can draw up a pedigree.

Nothing too weird really. Stuff they remind me of, characters from other stuff, regular-ass names... The only times I went with thematic names were Black, where I named everyone after villains, and Y, where I used French names.

I stop my Pokemon from evolving a lot of the time, to make the game more difficult or b/c I don't want my team to be fully evolved before a certain point in the game. I also tend to give my Pokemon somewhat less viable movesets simply b/c I like the move. I.e. in my recent Black 2 challenge mode run, my Snivy is level 38 and still hasn't evolved and has Leaf Tornado over Giga Drain. I also use Attract a lot in my runs.

I'm glad others do the same things too. For the entirety of ORAS, I believed there was a "code" that would guarantee a catch on any pokemon by alternating button presses, but only with very specific timing.

I'm kinda like that, except everything has to be male for me. In Diamond, I noticed that all male trainers had all male teams, so I thought that I couldn't use any females. I was 8 at the time. I'm 22 now.

Like in USUM I used names from the Hawaiian language, or French in XY. In DPPT I named them after folkloric characters because of the slight spiritual aspects of the game like Arceus. Most of them are just shortened or jumbled versions of words so they don't might not make sense but it's still neat and fun to do
