Don't be an ideas guy. I'm assuming you either have some experience coding with whatever format you're trying to mess with or have the will to learn since you're making this thread. People out there will be glad to help you out but you can't expect them to do all of the actual work.

I'm sorry but it's really dumb seeing that shit and then five seconds later going into your party menu to look at cutesy Pachirisu sprite. There's nothing wrong with incorporating darker elements, but you need subtlety in order to make it work without creating a juxtaposition.

I see the appeal in a kind of overarching plot with multiple legendaries. I like fan games that explore different ways to experience the story without going overboard, but just enough change to not look like a carbon copy of a GF game.

Don't make the game extremely hard, unless that's the central conceit behind your project. Most people won't play your game if they have to grind in it.

If you find time, adding small polishing details like character customization or ball stickers or whatever can really make your game stand out. Just finish the important stuff first.

Good luck anon, game dev, even for fan games, is infinitely more rewarding than just playing games. Get through learning the basics and you'll have a great time.
