I tried to make a 2nd team restricting myself to only Gen 6 Pokemon, but using that pool to make a balanced team is more hassle than its worth.

imho I think Game Freak should've made it so that while retaining the critical members of their teams the Team Rocket Grunts should've used Gen IV evos to Gen I and II Pokemon that fit their character. This would also help since then HGSS and Platinum can work to promote those Pokemon whilst DP was the one to promote the main cast of Gen IV Pokemon.

Done a redo of the entirety of both Team Magma & Team Aqua for ORAS. The idea is that the battles with boss characters are more frequent and there's more variety. Those 5 Magma/Aqua Grunts are engaged four times and their teams actually vary from the initial set of 5 Poochyena to a Mightyena, two Weezing/Muk and two Camerupt/Sharpedo.

For Courtney & Shelly I gave them the Zangoose-Seviper pairing as well as Absol to be a more gameplay orientated hint that Team Magma & Aqua's plans are dangerous. Both admins on each team also use an old Pokemon (Torkoal or Relicanth) in their battles. You may also note that the team leaders now have full teams of six with a fossil Pokemon and a Fire or Water type that they share with Tabitha/Matt.

I think the major distinction however is Butler on Team Magma & Zinnia on Team Aqua. I was thinking about this and think it would be cool if instead of the Delta Episode being what it was trying to cram plot elements of Emerald in such a way that they didn't work instead you could have one post-game story in OR focused around Butler and the player can catch Jirachi while in AS it'd focus around Zinnia and Deoxys. Or just have both games have both post-games would work. Regardless both Team Leaders include a member of Butler/Zinnia's team in their own.

Created this one for Team Galactic, using Pt as the basis, added in Charon for battles as well as two more Admins who'd be Jr. Admins compared to the main four, they'd be Mercury & Neptune. Overall there are a lot more encounters since I feel Team Galactic's presence wanes in the story after Eterna City until Canalave City and then again until the climax of the story. Also made the admins teams more varied since I feel like them all having Bronzor and two of them having Golbat was kinda boring.

I opted to not use Mightyena for him or Zinnia since it was a weak Pokemon that Courtney/Shelly & Maxie/Archie drop in this instance. As for Salamence, I more so wanted to keep Butler's team feeling cohesive to his magician themes, Salamence doesn't really mesh with that whereas Dusclops and Kirlia do quite well.

I've always thought Lusamine having a Shiny Salazzle would be a fantastic choice. I'm well aware that most NPCs don't use Shinies, and I would rarely advocate for such a thing... but hear me out:
Salazzle suits Lusamine well enough on its own, but it's already the signature Pokémon of another character - Plumeria - so just throwing one on her team without actively going for any sort of contrast seems lazy.
The thing is that Plumeria and Lusamine ARE designed as foils in a great number of ways - setting up a contrast between them is perfectly reasonable:
> Both of them have opposite relationships with Guzma: Plumeria tries to save him from Ultra Space, while Lusamine stops caring about him as soon as they get there
> Both of them react in opposite ways to Lillie standing up to them - USUM Plumeria: "Leave her be. I like a girl who's not afraid to stand up for herself." / SM Lusamine: "You've become ugly. Ever since you [...] learned to defy your own mother!"
> Both of them play into Sun and Moon's themes of family in opposite ways: Lusamine rejects her children for running away from her and claims not to have any children, while Plumeria's "family" IS a bunch of runaways, none of whom are related by blood but all of whom she calls her "brothers and sisters"
> Plumeria is the most powerful woman in Team Skull and Lusamine is the most powerful woman in the Aether Foundation
> Plumeria's Salazzle is black, while Lusamine's Shiny Salazzle is white, fitting them aesthetically
> Lusamine being the main antagonist of the entire game and Plumeria being only an admin of the already-less-powerful Team Skull, giving the rarer form to Lusamine and the more common form to Plumeria makes decent logical sense.

I'm not going to do USUM teams for them since USUM was a mistake in more ways than one. As for their teams here, I wanted to emphasize a few things with the characters through the Pokemon they use. Firstly is that no one is an outright Type specialist anymore, it doesn't make sense that they would be and I think it was laziness on Game Freak's part when they did that.

You may note that Faba does not use any Alolan Pokemon on his team and the only Gen 7 Pokemon Lusamine uses is one that's not from Alola, I did this as a subtle nod to how more malevolent they are than the other villains and as a sort of disdain they'd have towards the Alolan Region.

Guzma has a Ribombee specifically in his last battle because that is the turning point from him as an antagonist to a more neutral character and I think having a more cutesy Bug-Type for him would show that change.

Gladion's team is notably devoid of Dark-Types due to what his character really is and Passimian I think helps show his eventual willingness to help the player.

Lusamine's team I tried to make represent several things, first off Pangoro instead of Bewear because I think Bewear would make sense for USUM Lusmaine not SM Lusamine. Secondly, Kantonian Ninetales is an explicit rejection of the Alolan lifestyle, Froslass is a much less playful Ghost-Type and somewhat ambiguous morally in its depictions so I think it works well as a contrast to Gladion's Gengar. Wailord is simply a representation of the nature of travel that the Aether Foundation conducts and also because I didn't want to use Sharpedo. Nihilego is self-explanatory and Dragonite works as the powerhouse in that it's unassuming like Bewear but is incredibly dangerous.

Fire & Fairy combination, Wicke has a very caring personality which I think is best reflected by these two types, the Pokemon I went with were;
- Comfey due to it being an Alolan Pokemon representing Wicke's ability to become accustomed to Alola.
- Magmortar being a powerhouse of a Pokemon but is shown to have been diligently raised from its baby form (Magby) by Wicke.
- Clefable, this one's more so just cause it's a cute Pokemon and that Lusamine had one originally.
- Flareon & Sylveon, mainly to cap off the typing combination but also as a sort of reflection of how Wicke cares for Gladion & Lillie, I've always associated Eevee and its evolutions with some degree of loyalty and so I think having Wicke use these Pokemon would reflect her own dedication towards caring for Gladion & Lillie.

What was her and the Secret Base guy's point in ORAS, they're never relevant to the plot of the main story or the post game and both are unnecessary and annoying given you could ignore their gameplay elements in the original RS.
