This is something that I see thrown like gospel, that Garchomp and Sharpedo are distant relatives, this is just as incorrect as the people who insinuate that Crobat and Aerodactyl are related, just because shark-like traits does not make it a shark, this can be seen in creatures like dolphins and the extinct ichthyosaur, both had shark-like body but were not related, due to Gible's Pokedex entries it can be inferred that Garchomp is a reptile, also if you're going to mention the marking on their heads, Garchomp's is a star and Sharpedo's is a cross
