>>38475285It was boring. Its only really relevant new features was basically being a reboot with new pokemon only and a more adult story.
It had a big number of amazing new pokemon, maybe the most from any gen since 3, but it also had many duds like the ice cream come (which wouldn't be so bad if the three of them glued weren't hideous in their final form). Many of the less successful designs just reminded you how they were forced to make these pokemon just because they refused to reuse old ones.
As for the story, it was stupid and nonsensical as is usually is. So, you'd cruise to the end not really liking the overall diversity of pokemon and have no national dex to look forward to extending your playtime by 100 more hours. And there was no post game. So you would walk away bored and never buy a new game.
It was truly a boring gen. Nothing was special and it felt like it had no soul anymore. Hard to put a finger on it. Supposedly the sequels were good, but I never bought a pokemon game ever again. I stick to rom hacks and follow the anime now.
