An alternate way of doing overworld encounters was already done, in the desert route of XY.
Indeterminate encounter graphics, you can't tell which pokemon it is, unlike the floating balloons in LegPiss. Does not threaten the turn-based nature of the game; the overworld pokemon only move when you do. It's very similar to the system in Zelda 2, only not real time. To build on this system you could have things like slightly different graphics for pokemon with better IVs or something that hints at their typing. But no, retarded faggots cry about that route to this day because they're too stupid to figure out the way it works and don't realize that the shortcomings come from the zoomed-in camera which is even worse in nu-pokemon games.
