Except Gen 1 was my first, I was in my earlier teens when Gen 4 came out, and I think that Gens 4 and 5 are the best, objectively thinking in terms of style, locale, and gameplay.
Gen 4 was slow, but outside the HP bars on high-HP Pokemon, I quickly adjusted/didn't even take notice to the speed when I played. It was something I found out much later on the internet. Going back to play it again, I noticed that it was indeed slower, but it's not a game-ruiner and didn't completely obliterate all enjoyment for me like some of you folk around here. It's really overblown and seems like another one of those parroted arguments by people who WANT to hate the game.
