What's to defend? Nintendo not bothering to give them a HD-capable console until the Switch? That up until developing SS for the Switch they didn't have experience in making HD games? Also, it's not all that new, the new gen still retains some aspect of looking like the previous Gen after a hardware switch. There was no great jump from GB to GBA, GBA to DS or from DS to 3DS, graphics-wise. The improvements usually come with the Gens after (II over I, V over IV, VII over VI).
But again, keep crying about "muh grafix" you're still going to get daddy, mummy and mummy's new boyfriend to buy you a Switch and the games at christmas like a good little addict.

The assets and models used (chair, PC and the environment around it) are. It could be a stick figure and it would still work regardless of how much grunt the console had (hell, Link's Awakening on the Game Boy a full 20 years before did sitting down). I don't care about the bottom dollar of some foreign company. I want new and innovative experiences targeted at an older audience. It would also help with fan retention. Once a kid grows up they can switch to the more "mature" series of pokemon. The possibilities are endless with this approach and GF casts a wider net and keeps the customer engaged long after they should've outgrown the series.

This is already happening you hilarious autist. They added a Master's category to the VGC in 2011 because so many adults were applying for the senior division, not to mention the last two remakes were so successful, due to fans of the original games going out and buying the remakes. Coupled with the fact GO prints money on its own and the Japanese market loves mobileshit, it's clear TPC are fully invested in catering to that audience, a lot more bucks back than what they spend making it, compared to a full-game's expense and marketing budget. without even the guarantee of breaking even. People love pokémon, they're not really fussed on other pokémon games however.

GF switching back to 2D sprites would be the saving grace these games need, 3D models is not always an upgrade to 2D sprites. It's like the movie industry having all the garbage live action versions of things like ghost in the shell and (most likely) Akira while a high budget 2D movie from 2019 would be so much better. I hate this stigmatism that just because something is 3D or live action makes its automatically better than 2D.
