I'm really not very into anime (grew out of it basically) but from what I have seen, Haruhi Suzumiya is a good example of this and is widely recognised as a result. She's a weirdo tsundere but she's also a social outcast, and deservedly so since she treats people like shit. Unlike a lot of anime where the tsundere girl gets away with being an awful, violent banshee, she's constantly being treated accordingly for how she behaves. I suppose that's more to do with her relationship with other characters, but if you want more examples of what makes her distinct herself, there's all of her strange habits like her researching into all sorts of religions and wanting to celebrate all of their holidays, how she used to tie her hair up in a different, weird style every single day, an interest in the supernatural that's so intense that she refuses to date anyone who isn't a time traveller or alien etc.
Meanwhile, what does Lillie have? What does she enjoy? Pokemon? Wow, just like everyone else in the series. Wearing the clothes she likes? Nice. Lillie is literally a nothing.
