I think it'll end up being Ash/Torracat inspiring young Kukui to train with Litten. The opening's been teasing a Torracat/Incineroar battle and Kukui/MR flat-out said they'd have a rematch in the future.
Also, you're absolutely retarded for not realising this is the endgame, especially when they've been building Ash's Torracat/Incineroar to have a moveset to beat MR's Incineroar (Flame Charge and Revenge to outspeed and hit it hard) while also ensuring it still has a connection to Stoutland (bringing its spirit back to teach it Fire Blast, allowing it to lose Fire Fang for Darkest Lariat for its Z-Move).
And that's not to mention any potential colouring differences they may decide to use, to further distinguish between the two.

Face facts fucko, this was the plan. It's ultimately why Sakurai picked Incineroar for Smash and follows how all the other canons' canon starter is Litten. Here's the Dream poll and after the datamine, everyone knew Incineroar would see better comp usage due to its ability. That it got an absolutely insane moveset for VGC in USM is more clear evidence the shillmon was to be Incineroar, albeit they tried not to be as blatant about it before.

Given she's likely going to wake up that Magearna, she's probably getting Farium-Z too (Mallow will likely get Psychium-Z off Oranguru this week so), which leave me in two minds. It could go either way, I wouldn't rule out Snowy deciding to use the ice stone to evolve to save Lillie because reasons just before the League arc, especially if she manages a third capture between now and league start. Stoked Sparksurfer hasn't been shown off in the Anime yet either and given Hau's going to have a Z-Ring to show off his Decidueye's Sinister Arrow Raid, wouldn't put it past him winning an Alolanraichuium-Z for Stoked Sparksurfer. It is his in-game signature after all.
